VMware Fusion 1.0, the long awaited competition to Parallels Desktop, was released today. Unfortunately that also means the half price pre-order has also finished - but I got in just in time.
After endless woes with Ubuntu 7.04 Feisty Fawn under Parallels Desktop, mainly revolving around CDROM emulation problems, I switched to VMware fusion beta quite a while ago, and have been very happy with it. I haven’t run Windows under Fusion yet, so haven’t had a chance to try out ”Unity”, Fusion’s take on Parallels Coherence mode, but I’ve heard great things about it.
The “Announcements” section of my front page is driven off a tag feed from my Google Reader - normally I would have just tagged a VMware release announcement, but I couldn’t find a decent low traffic feed which included this announcement. So I guess I’ll publish this and then tag my own feed… crazy times.
